Pitter

OMHC Mental Health Therapist-Intern

Alexia Pitter is a Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate student at Johns Hopkins University whose clinical work is grounded in trauma-informed care, mindfulness-informed practices, narrative therapy, and a strengths-based approach. She is a member of Chi Sigma Iota (CSI), an international honor society that recognizes academic and professional excellence among counseling students and was honored with the Outstanding Emerging Practitioner Award in recognition of her growth and emerging work within the counseling profession.

Alexia is especially passionate about working with teens, minoritized individuals, system-impacted individuals, and people navigating significant life transitions. Her clinical interests include trauma, depression, identity development, adjustment, and supporting clients through periods of change, uncertainty, and personal growth.

Alexia approaches counseling with the belief that clients are more than the challenges or circumstances they have experienced. Through positive psychology, mindfulness-informed practices, and narrative approaches, she supports clients in exploring the experiences and stories that have shaped them while identifying their strengths, building resilience, and developing a deeper understanding of themselves. She strives to create a therapeutic space where clients feel safe, heard, respected, and empowered to define what healing and growth look like for them.

Her personal motto, “I create the change I want to see,” reflects the philosophy she brings to her clinical work. Alexia believes meaningful change becomes possible when people have the support, tools, and space to recognize their strengths and move toward the life they envision for themselves.
