What is Psychiatric Rehabilitation (PRP)?
Psychiatric Rehabilitation, or PRP, is a community-based program designed to help individuals living with serious mental illness build the skills, supports, and independence they need to thrive in daily life.
Unlike traditional therapy, PRP services are delivered where you live, work, and spend time — in your home, your neighborhood, your school, or your community. Our certified PRP specialists work alongside clients on real-life goals in real-life settings.
August Rose Health Center has been providing CARF-accredited PRP services since 2018 — the founding program that started it all. We serve children, teens, and adults across Maryland.

Individual PRP
One-on-one sessions with a certified PRP specialist. Services are delivered in your home, neighborhood, school, or community — wherever your goals live. Your specialist works with you directly on daily living skills, independence, and personal recovery goals.
Group PRP
Small group sessions led by a certified PRP specialist. Group PRP builds social skills, peer support, and shared learning in a structured community setting — helping members connect, practice skills together, and support each other's recovery.
Who We Serve
Who our PRP program serves
Our community-based PRP serves clients of all ages across Maryland — from young children to older adults living with serious mental illness.
Children
Ages 5–12. School support, daily living skills, and family integration in the home setting.
Teens
Ages 13–17. Independence, social skills, school functioning, and community integration.
Adults
Ages 18–64. Employment, housing stability, life skills, and recovery support in the community.
Why community-based PRP is different
Most mental health services happen in an office.
PRP at August Rose happens in your world — because that is where recovery really takes place.
In your home
Skills practiced at home stick better than skills learned in a clinic. Your specialist works with you in your actual environment.
In your community
Grocery stores, transit, schools, workplaces — we support real-world goals in real-world settings.
Goals that matter to you
Your PRP plan is built around what matters most to you — not a generic checklist. Every goal is personal.
